High Output Alternators - Who Needs Them

Standard alternators Alternators are standard equipent on all inboard engines and most outboards over 20HP. Most marine engines come from the factory with automotive type alternators and regulators in the 35 to 55 amp range. Automotive type alternators are generally not required to replace large amounts of energy in a short time frame or work with several battery types. This is exactly what a marine alternators need to do. Marine alternators Marine alternators need to replace the greatest number of amps as quickly as possible without damaging the batteries. This usually requires high output alternators combined with intelligent multistage regulators.

Powerlines Series 23 high output alternators Powerlines Series 23 high output alternators are designed for use in the marine environment. The Series 23 is both Coast Guard and B.I.A. certified . Specified models have a special nickle coating which provides superior corrosion resistance and durability. All Powerline alternators are built with special hand wound stators, rotors, bearings, high temperature grease, heavy duty diodes, long life brushes, and az cast aluminum fan. The Powerline Series 23 alternators provide higher output both at idle and higher speeds. Aqualine regulator The Aqualine regulator features a three stage charging system (bulk, absorption, and float) with GEL battery protection, a special Tach keep alive circuit, and an optional over temperature protection. Battery Isolators Multiply battery banks can be charged using Powerline battery isolators. These solid state devices allows you to connect you engine alternator to both batteries without fear of overcharging, or of one higher charged battery discharging into a lower charged battery.
